• Writing a newspaper article

    Today, we worked on a newspaper article. We explained what you need to include and this is what we said:

     

    Tuesday, September 23rd (the twenty-third) 2014

     

     

     

    How to write a newspaper article.

     

     

     

     

     

    1. You need a leading sentence to grab (=catch) the reader's attention (=a summary of your event).

    2. You need to give information/details about your topic. (=theme)

    3. You can add your sources, a testimony or interviews....

    4. Never give your personal opinion!/don't criticize/Be objective!

    5. Conclude: recap the main facts.

    6. Find a headline (= a title), include your pictures, add a caption.

    Everybody came with an idea and you worked quite well!

     

    Homework: Finish your article for Thursday 25/09.

  • Preparing the final task.

    Hello!

     

    Today, we corrected the flash test. It wasn't very good, unfortunately you didn't revise regularly...

    Then, we finished working on our summer review and we started to prepare our final task: writing a newspaper article.

     

    Homework: Find a topic (and ideas!) about your future article.(Trouver un thème et des idées pour son article. Il peut être sur des faits réels ou imaginaires).

    Today, we revised the first 4 sections of the worksheet and we corrected your biographies.

    then we started the 2nd worksheet.

  • What happened in August?

    Hello everyone,

     

    On Monday, you had a flash test on the first two worksheets (July).

    Most of you lost points because you disrupted the test... It's a shame...

    On Tuesday, you worked a little bit more... we completed a worksheet about what happened in August...

     

    Homework for Thursday 18/09: Write 2 short biographies with the elements you have on worksheet 2.

    Hello everyone,

     

    Today, we discussed the ice bucket challenge, most of you didn't know what it's about (YOUR HOMEWORK WAS TO WRITE A SENTENCE ABOUT IT!)

    We also talked about what happened 13 years ago in the USA, the World Trade Center was destroyed in a terrorist attack.

     

    Then we wrote 4 sentences about 4 new events:

     

    1.Lauren Bacall, an American actress passed away (=died) at the age of 89.


    2. The European championship took place  in Zurich (Switzerland).

    3. President Obama was nominated for the ice bucket challenge. He refused to do it but he gave a lot of money to the charity. (=it's a humanitarian organization )

     4. The Ebola virus killed thousands of people in West Africa.

     

    Homework for Monday 15/09 : BIEN réviser les 2 fiches et la leçon du jour (= au dessus en bleu!)
