• Hey,

    today we first spoke about Chris's situation. Then we watched the 2nd extract of the episode about "the leather jacket".

    You can watch it again below:

    Here is what we said about it:

    Money and Price:

    How much is it?
    How much is the leather jacket?
       It costs $50.

    Chris wants an allowance to save up money. He needs money ($50) to buy a leather jacket.

    His sister needs $15 to go to the Statue of Liberty.     need = be necessary
    His brother needs $5 to go to the show.
    His mother needs $25 to do shopping.
    He needs $50 to buy a leather jacket.

    Chris's father accepts but he refuses for Chris. He doesn't give him an allowance.

    -> His father says = he needs to find a part time job.

    Security guard = the hardest option because Chris is skinny and short.
    Do some gardening = the easiest option.
    Baby-sit = the worst and the most dangerous solution = Chris is gonna kill the babies!!!!

  • Hi guys,

    today you first took a flash test about resolutions and the year 2013. Then we did a recap of what you should know about jobs.

    Finally, we watched an extract from the series "Everybody Hates Chris", the opening scene in which Chris has a problem, as usual. Here is what we said:

    The scene takes place in Brooklyn (NYC) when Chris was a teenager.

    He wants a leather jacket ...  to look cool.
                                                         to show off
                                                         to impress the girls.           TO = annonce le BUT

    Problem: his family is poor and he doesn't have pocket money / an allowance.

  • Hey,

    today we started a new lesson about jobs. We first talked about your training periods, the companies, and the jobs you did.

    Then we continued the lesson with possible part-time jobs for teenagers if they want to earn money.

    You came up with only a few ideas. We'll see if you can complete these ideas next time.

    If you need money, you can:
       * ask your parents
       * get a part-time job
       * steal... (maybe not the best option...)

    Finally, we started to comment on the poster of the TV series "Everybody Hates Chris".

    New Sequence: JOBS
