• Hello,

Today we watched the end of the third video about Halloween.

    Here's the lesson:

History of Halloween / part 2

In Medieval Britain, the needy prepared [rd] soul cakes in exchange for prayers for the dead. That was “souling”.

Kids / Young people wore costumes, they told jokes and poetry, they sang, in exchange for wine, food and money. That was “guising”.

    In 1950, Halloween became family-friendly and kid-centered.

Today, Halloween is big business! American people spend 6 billion dollars in costumes and candies every year!

    BECOME > BECAME

    TELL > TOLD

    WEAR > WORE

    SING > SANG

    BE > WAS / WERE

Homework for Thursday 3rd: Apprendre la leçon et être capable de parler de la video 3.

  • Sequence # 4

    Document # 1 : the video

The scene takes place in the USA in the 1960's as we can see old cars and they are wearing old-fashioned clothes.

There are riots in the street and in a school. White citizens are protesting about a new law.
They don't want a black girl to go to school.
Everyone in the school is white and they are racist.
It was a scandal for them.
