    today we watched the extract from the Lorax again and here is what we said about the family's conversation:

    Real trees Fake trees

    * For the mother, real trees are messy and dirty.
    * For the son, real trees are the best.
    * Real trees are beautiful.
    * They change colours naturally.
    * Real trees can die.

     

     

    * For the mother, fake trees are tidy and beautiful.
    * For the son, fake trees are the worst.
    * Fake trees have a disco ball at the top.
    * Fake trees are small and don't grow.
    * They don't have fruit and leaves.
    * They change colours with a remote for the 4 seasons.
    * They are electronic and musical.
    * Fake trees need batteries.
    * Fake trees can die too (electronic failure).

    -> The son and the mother don't agree.

    Homework:
    - apprendre la leçon sur les "real and fake trees".
    - avoir corrigé son poème sur les nouvelles résolutions et le connaître par coeur (récitation).

  • Hi guys,

    today we talked about a movie extract from the Lorax in which you had to memorize as many things as possible with the correct location on the screen. You did a good job memorizing except 2 students who were mistaken...

    Then we continued with the video, we imagined the conversation of the family and finally we saw how fake trees were pretty cool in the future... Summer, Autumn, Winter and ... disco!!! But where is Spring!!!???

    Here is what we said about the video:

    The story is in the future.
    A family is having dinner in the middle.
    They are eating jelly mushrooms.
    They are talking about real and fake trees.
    The tree has a remote to control the lights for the seasons (summer / autumn / winter / disco!!! / spring)
    There is a disco ball at the top of the electronic musical tree.

    Vocab:
    - son / daughter
    - curtain

    - connaître par coeur la présentation de la scène
    - revoir la scène et essayer de comprendre davantage de choses sur ce qu'ils disent...

    today you could give me orders so that I performed the "Hindu dance" for you... ain't I nice? =)

    Then we tried to organize your notes but as you were very chatty... it didn't work properly...

    Here is what we wrote:

    The picture represents "The Almighty Lorax", a small tiny creature with an orange fur, a big yellow mustache, and thick eyebrows. He lives in the wood / forest.

    Pour décrire une image:
    1- Localiser: IN / ON / AT
    2- Présenter un ou des éléments: There is / are
    3- Parler des actions des personnages: Présent BE+ing.
                         ex: The Lorax is showing the tree stump.
                               He is speaking.
                               He is looking at someone.

    Homework:

    - comme votre travail et votre attention ont été très médiocres aujourd'hui, vous avez du travail à rattraper chez vous...

    -> Sur feuille, écrire une présentation complète de l'image pour mardi 4 février (entre 5 et 10 lignes maximum). Devoir personnel ramassé et noté!

  • Hi guys,

    today we finished the activity about the poem and we concentrated on pronunciation and sentence stress.

    You had to read the poem with the correct intonation.

    Remember the rhythm = 3 / 2 / 2 / 2

    Homework:

    - à votre tour de créer un poème sur les bonnes ou mauvaises résolutions en ce début d'année. Ceux qui arriveront à faire des rimes gagneront des points de bonus.
    - s'entraîner à lire le poème à voix haute (réalisation du "sentence stress" 3 / 2 / 2 / 2 / + contraction des formes faibles / gonna / ou / wanna / lorsque cela est possible)  = évaluation -> Vous devrez vous enregistrer en lisant le poème avec le bon accent.
