Today, we made a recap of your research, here is what you said:
Monday, November 17th 2014
Discovering India
A-How many castes....
→ It's a social class system, the society is divided in four groups/castes and one group (the untouchables).
B→ The capital of India is New Delhi.
C → The most typical outfit is the sari (saree), It's a long cloth (9 meters) draped over the body.
D → The saffron= courage, sacrifice and the spirit of renunciation.
The white band= purity and truth
The wheel in navy blue= the Dharma shakra.
The green band= fertility and faith.
E → What does Bollywood mean?
It is a mix/portmanteau of Bombay and (H)ollywood. It represents the film industry based in Mumbai (the films are in Hindi)
F → .../ Where is it located?
It means « crown of palaces ». It is located in Agra, in the north of India.

Hello everyone!
Today, we read a text about dabbawallas in India. You used dictionaries to find new words and we explained other words.
This is what we wrote:

Vocabulary:
Paragraph one:
A tiffin box=a metal/lunch box
to carry=to transport
to deliver=to give to somebody who ordered something.
Paragraph two:
illiterate--> semi literate-->literate
Paragraph three
wedding=mariage
powerful=puissant
Paragraph four
across=à travers
Paragraph five
braving /to brave= braver/ affronter
peak hour= heures de pointe.
Heat= la chaleur.
Homework: Finir de chercher le vocabulaire.
