• Hi guys,

today we continued to study Olivia's poem. We found equivalents to some difficult sentences in the text (exercise 4) and then we worked on what Olivia really wants (exercise 5).

    ____________________________

    Homework:

  • Hi guys,

    - relire le texte pour avoir des informations à donner sur la situation (who / where / when / what / how / why...) = pensez à étudier le paratexte (titre de l’œuvre, titre de la partie, découpage, illustration, ...).

  • Hi guys,

today we continued listening to George Hutchinson's testimony... Unfortunately because it's an old recording, not everything was clear... What a shame!

Here are the questions you asked and the answers you found from the recording:

    Testimony: interrogating a suspect

    1) What was the man's name? Where did he live?
I don't know his name. Maybe he lived in Dorset Street.

    2) How was he dressed? What were they wearing?
    I don't remember.

    3) How did the man look?
    He was a customer.

    4) When / What time did you see this man?
I saw this man at about 2 a.m.

    5) Do you have a connection with the suspect / victim?
I knew the victim. She said: "Can you give me 6 pence?" and I answered: "No."

    6) Where did they come from?
    I don't know.

    7) Did he have a weapon? What weapon did you see?
Maybe he had a knife. He was carrying a small parcel in his left hand.

    8) What were they doing?
    They were drinking.

    Homework:

    - Apprendre le témoignage de George et être capable de le dire soi-même comme s'il s'agissait de son témoignage (apprendre par coeur! + ajouter les éléments vus aujourd'hui pour compléter le témoignage)

  • Hey,

today we continued the study of our text and we concentrated on the attitudes of the characters thanks to the verbs of speech.
We identified the role of the 3 men present in the room and what they were doing.

The book "A Study in Scarlet" is the 1st book with Sherlock Holmes. So it is the introduction. Dr Watson is the narrator of the story and he meets Sherlock (his future friend / side-kick / flatmate) for the 1st time.

    Homework:

    - lire le texte à nouveau et être capable de parler de la situation (qui / où / quand / quoi / comment / pourquoi).
