  • Hello!

Today, you had a vocabulary test and then you watched a video about Whitechapel.

Lesson 3: The crime scene - extra information

In 1888, it was Victorian times. Queen Victoria reigned at that time for fifty years.

London was the largest and richest capital city in the world, but Whitechapel was a destitute, crime-ridden and sordid district.

Life was a daily battle to survive in Whitechapel.

At that time, Jack the Ripper murdered prostitutes and that caused a huge scandal.

There were 1200 prostitutes in Whitechapel. They worked in brothels and in unlit alleys.

Homework for Monday 1st: apprendre la leçon et être capable de parler de Whitechapel.
