Homework:

- finir son discours complet et vérifier qu'il corresponde bien aux attentes (American dream / sympathize with people / ternary rhythm).
- vous pouvez m'envoyer par mail votre texte pour correction si vous le souhaitez.
- vous pouvez écouter votre discours en le copiant ou en copiant certains mots dans un vocaliseur en ligne comme: "VOKI" par exemple ou "howjsay". It's not perfect but it will give you a good idea what how to pronounce.

today you gave your own definition of the phrase "American Dream" and you also gave examples. Bravo to Leila (and the others) who did a very good "Job"... :)

Here is what we said:

Steve Jobs embodies the American dream. He was the creator of "Apple", one of the biggest companies in the world. "Apple" is still famous and popular after he died.
He didn't start from scratch but his parents were Syrian. He was adopted at birth. He succeeded thanks to his education and hard work. He became a billionnaire.

Other examples:
- Martin Luther King (MLK)
- Michael Jackson
....

Finally we saw how it was important to sympathize with your audience to give a good speech and to speak in a ternary rhythm (1 / 2 / 3).

today we tried to understand better Eva Longoria's speech in which she made many references to the "American Dream" and the "opportunity".

Here is what we finally said about the speech:

What is the goal of her speech?

- to show she's brave / courageous
- to share painful and positive emotions
- to sympathize with people
- to move people

The examples she takes:

- Personal example: She's lived the American Dream. When she was a student, she worked hard (mechanic shop, fast food restaurant, gym club).
+ financial aid
+ she took a loan at the bank.
-> She embodies the American Dream.
