  • Friday, January 10th (the tenth) 2020 (two thousand and twenty)

    The evolution of the dabbawallas.

The structure : The dabbawallas  divide/share the money equally, they earn the same salary.

You need two bicycles and 20 rupees for the uniform when you are hired.

Today, they become famous all over the world (in the UK, in Italy and in the USA)

Moreover, they use new technologies (SMS or internet).

Finally, they are sponsored by microsoft : they wear a logo on their uniforms to

    advertise the company.

    Monday, December 9th (the ninth)

    The dabbawalla business

The dabbawallas are very important in Mumbai. More than

200 000 people use this delivery system.

They wear a white uniform and a white cap.

The business started in 1890. Today, there are

5 000 dabbawallas in the company.

They only use their bikes/bicycles and the local train.

They are illiterate so they use a code to know the

    address of the customer.

They write a code on the dabba: a colour and a number to

    identify the correct destination.

For 6/01 : Bien revoir le début de séquence (et les vidéos

    sur le blog).
