  • Hello everyone, here is today's lesson:

    Thursday, March 28th (the twenty-eighth)

    The dabbawallas.

This delivery system is very important for the people in Mumbai.

Their organisation is studied in business schools and they were visited by Prince Charles and Richard Branson, two famous British personalities.

The association was created 129 years ago, in 1890. Today, there are about 5 000 dabbawallas who deliver more than 200 000 meals everyday.

They are very impressive because they don’t use any technology. They recognise thier destinations with a colour and a number on each box. All the boxes are transported on bicycles or hand-drawn carts, the dabbawallas also use the Mumbai local train.

    Vocabulary :

    -to bring (brought/brought) : apporter

    -to carry : porter

    -to deliver : livrer.
