Ashleigh Hall's story
• Who is she? What happened to her?
Ashleigh Hall was a 17 year-old teenager who was killed in England in 2009.
• Explain how it happened
Ashleigh met a boy on the internet (on Facebook), they started to chat and send each other text messages. She fell in love with the boy (but in reality it was an adult). They arranged a rendez-vous in a restaurant. She was kidnapped by Peter Chapman, later she was raped and killed. Her body was found in a field, close to the restaurant.
Ashleigh told her mum she was going to sleep at a friend's house.
• What do you know about the attacker?
The murderer is Peter Chapman, a 33 year-old man who was arrested and sent to jail (= imprisoned) for 35 years.
To find Peter Chapman, they/the police hacked her computer/facebook account and found all the messages, they discovered Chapman used a fake identity and fake pictures to attract young girls.
• What are Ashleigh’s Rules ? Read the document, rephrase and give advice.
-You shouldn't meet strangers from the internet / You should always take precautions before you meet a new friend : for example you can go with a friend.
-You should never accept new friends on social networks.
-You should block stalkers.
-------------------
Pour dire ce qu'elle aurait dû faire :
-She should have told her mum. (Elle aurait dû en parler à sa mère.)
-She should have refused the date.
-She should have declined the friends request.
(Elle aurait dû refuser sa demande d'amis).
Forme négative : S+ should/not+have+ participe passé….
Pour dire ce qu'elle n'aurait PAS dû faire :
-She shouldn't have lied to her mum about the date.
-She shouldn't have gone to the rendez-vous.
-She shouldn't have trusted Peter Chapman.
