Ashleigh Hall's story

• Who is she?What happened to her?

Ashleigh Hall is a 17 year-old British girl who was killed by a man met on facebook.

• Explain how it happened :

Ashleigh added a new person/boy on facebook and they chatted for a long time, she fell in love with him and they decided to see/meet each other. She told her mum she was going to sleep at her friend's house but it was a lie (she lied!) : she had a rendez-vous/date with her new boyfriend !

She was kidnapped, raped and killed.

• What do you know about the attacker?

The murderer is Peter Chapman. He was 36 years old when they arrested him. It wasn't the first time he created fake profiles on social networks to attract teenagers. He was jailed/ sent to jail /imprisoned for 35 years. He a sex offender. (=un délinquant sexuel).

• What are Ashleigh’s Rules ? Read the document, rephrase and give advice.

-You shouldn't meet strangers from the internet / You should always take precautions before you meet a new friend : for example you can go with a friend.

-You should never accept new friends/strangers on social networks.

-You should block stalkers.(= people who harrass you).
