Hi guys,
today we had to recap last time's lesson as it had been a very long time since I last saw you.
So you rephrased the interdictions and obligations of people during the period of segregation in the USA.
Then I showed you the full extract from the movie "Ruby Bridges". Here is what you said:
People of the government (US Marshals) came to her house to drive her and her mother to school. They were her bodyguards.
Schools in the South weren't segregated anymore but angry mobs protested because the USA didn't separate blacks and whites anymore.
Parents took away their children from school because a black child was in the school.
Focus on Southern accent from Louisiana:
-> The State of Louisiana says you cannot enter / The president of the United States says I can.
-> My kid ain't going to school with this jigaboo. (= negro child / nigger = offensive vocabulary)
