Hi guys,
today we did a large recap of Rapunzel's activities and then we talked about the end of the song. What does she want to do? Why is she bored and sad?
Here are some questions that you should be able to talk about:
– Talk about the characters (Rapunzel [the girl] and Pascal [the chameleon pet])
Describe them (body / clothes / personality...).
– Why do you think she is bored? Why does she repeat: "When will my life begin?"
– Have you seen the movie? Can you try and explain the story in English to
others?
– What do you think of the movie and the characters so far? Do you like them?
Why?
Here is what we said (not in the notebooks yet):
Rapunzel wants to see the world. It's her birthday. She wants to have a gift. She wants her mother to let her go outside, to let her see the lights in the sky.
She wants to stop the repetition of her life. She wants to stop her everyday chores. She wants to have real fun. She doesn't want to do the same activities everyday.
Mise au point grammaticale:
- WILL + BV = sert à exprimer l'idée de futur. Ici, elle utilise le futur parce qu'elle est "bored" et qu'elle rêve de son futur, un futur libre.
That's why she repeats: "When will my life begin?" in the song.
- WANT ... TO = sert à exprimer le souhait, ce que l'on veut voir se réaliser.
