Whitechapel: a dangerous district
Whitechapel in 1888 was dangerous and scary. There were many murders and there was much crime.
It was a poor neighborhood. For example, there were 7 or 8 occupants per room.
It was desolate because there were horrific health conditions. Many women turned to prostitution to survive.
