Today, we tried to understand why this case was difficult for the police back in 1888.
Why was this case difficult for the police?
1. The crimes happened in the street at night so there were no witnesses.
2. In 1888, there was no DNA and fingerprints analysis so it was difficult to find evidence.
3. The victims had no family so nobody was worried and called the police when they disappeared.
4. The streets were dirty, there was no sanitation and there was a lot of smoke so it was difficult to find evidence.
5. The neighbourhood was over crowded, even at night, so nobody came* and heard* the victims when they screamed.
