Black and white people were separate in public places everywhere in the USA:
They had to watch movies in different cinemas.
They couldn’t wash their hands in the same water fountains.
They had to sit at the back of buses.
They couldn’t wait in the same waiting rooms at the hospital.
They had to shower in different showers at the police station.
