The laws of segregation (2)
In parks, black old men and white old men couldn’t play checkers together. They couldn’t talk or walk together.
White people and black people had to go to separate swimming-pools. They couldn’t sunbathe at the same beaches.
Afro-American people had to use different bathrooms in gas stations.
They couldn’t stay in the homes. They couldn’t live in the same neighbourhoods.
They couldn’t pray in the same churches.
They couldn’t study in the same schools.
→ About 50 years ago, Afro-American people were discriminated against in public places.
