The escape

The children were sleeping when two men woke* them up. They gave* the children coke. They lured them away to a camp.

They went* to the camp with a car. Jamal and his brother were* happy because they were living in a slum.

They sang* a traditional song and the men encouraged the children. At night, the men said* “I will give you money if you sing”. If the children sang* well, the men burnt* their eyes.

In fact, the men were child-trafficking.

They used the children to get money in the street.

They burnt* their eyes to inspire pity and to make believe they were* the reincarnations of Surdas, the blind saint of the 15^th century.

At the end, Salim was* safe because he didn't sing well and he protected and rescued his brother. He didn't betray him.
