Oliver Twist - Contrasting actions

Hi guys,

today we did a recap of what had happened in the scene we watched about Oliver Twist and you learned how to use the preterite Be + ing VS preterite. 

Here are the sentences you wrote in your notebooks:

The supervisors were eating when Oliver arrived.
The children were working when Oliver entered the workhouse.
They were eating when Oliver stood up and asked for more gruel.
Oliver was asking for more food when the boss caned him / when the boss hit him with his cane.
Oliver was running when the supervisor caught him.
