New York explorers

Hello everybody,

Yesterday, we worked on the history of New York Bay.

We listened to a document telling us about Giovanni Da Verrazzano and Henry Hudson who were the early explorers of New York Bay.

We talked about their dates, nationalities and we discovered their tragic deaths.

We wrote a lesson in the copybook :

1) Verrazzano :
His name was Giovanni Da Verrazzano.
He was born in 1485 and he died in 1528.
He was Italian.
Today, a statue and a bridge are named after him.
He died in a tragic way : he was eaten by cannibals in the Carribean.

2) Hudson :
His name was Henry Hudson.
He was born in 1565 and he died in 1611.
He was English.
Today, a river is named after him.
He died in a tragic way : he was put on a boat by his sailors after a mutiny.

Homework : learn one part of the lesson : Hudson or Verrazzano.
