It shows when Oliver Twist is arriving at the workhouse.
The atmosphere is gloomy and dark. The gate looks like a haunted castle or a prison’s gate.
Oliver is crying and he is terrified because the men are mean.
The living conditions for the children are very harsh in the workhouse.
