Interpretation of the painting

In the document, Ruby is wearing a white dress and sneakers.

-> It looks like a wedding ceremony. Maybe it's a reference to a law. Black and white people couldn't marry together.
-> The white dress is a symbol for purity and peace. Ruby looks like a soldier in a war against racism and for the end of segregation.
-> There is a contrast (black skin / white clothes). It attracts the eye / our attention. Ruby is the subject of the painting. The marshals don't have heads because it's not important. They don't represent men but they are symbols for the law. They are wearing armbands, badges, ... and they are escorting Ruby. It looks like they are marching for war. They are closing their hands in the same way / in the same position as Ruby.

Other details to notice:
- the crack in the wall -> construction ? deconstruction ?
- the lines on the pavement -> a chronology ?

-> the painting is very realistic and the painter belongs to the artistic movement called: "realism" or "hyperrealism". Every detail is placed here for a specific reason, above all if those details differ from reality.
