Blog à destination des élèves du collège Joliot Curie (69500 Bron) mis en place par M. Hattais (Anglais) et Mme Parisi (Italien) en 2013
Hi guys,
today you had to record the audio comments about your "Afro-American History" poster.
Then we started the new and last sequence of the year about money.
Here is what you said:
When you're a teenager, to earn money you can't work. It's not allowed.
But you can:
- get pocket money from your parents and sometimes an allowance. An allowance is interesting because you can save up.
- organize a garage sale, and sell the old things from your house. In the US, many kids also sell lemonade.
- do babysitting for your family and ask for money.
Because you're too young, you can't:
- be a waiter or waitress.
- have a summer job.
Then we started watching the series entitled: Everybody hates Chris.
Here is what we said about the beginning of the episode:
Chris is a teenager (13). He lives in NYC (Brooklyn).
When he was 13, he was a loser. He wanted to look cool / fashionable and boast about with a leather jacket.
Luckily, there was a discount / a good bargain / it was on sale.
Vocabulary:
- save up
- an allowance
- regular pocket money
- fashionable
