Ruby didn't wear the same clothes. In the 2nd extract, she was wearing only white (dress, ribbon, shoes, socks, ...). You can see her clearly because it creates a contrast between her black skin and her white clothes.
She was not with her mother but she was proud and confident. In the 1st extract, she was worried and stressed.
The protest was more violent. There were fences to block the people and the protesters splashed a tomato at Ruby.
People wrote "nigger" and "KKK" on the wall. Nigger = offensive / insulting KKK = Ku Klux Klan -> a racist cult.
Now Ruby understood the situation whereas in the 1st episode she didn't.
