Chris wants a job!
In this extract, the friend of Chris has a leather jacket. So Chris is jealous because a girl talks with his friend and not with him.
Chris goes and asks to find a job at a shoe repairer's, a barber's, and a grocer's. Everybody says no!
Chris finally asks his father: “Can you help me to get a job?” and his father accepts. When his father says yes, Chris is surprised.
His father is a postman: he delivers letters, packages, etc…
When his father arrives, Chris sleeps. He doesn't wake up and he doesn't go with his father. In the morning, his father is angry because he thinks Chris is lazy.
