What happened last summer ?

IN JULY….

On July 12th 2017, a famous Pakistani woman named Malala celebrated her 20th (twentieth) birthday. When she was young she went to school and was shot by Talibans because girls couldn't go to school (it was fordidden/prohibited). Doctors took/transferred her to a hospital in the United Kingdom and she survived. She continued to fight for girl's education and won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014 (she was only 17).

On July 14th it was France's National day (=Bastille day). French President Macron invited Donald Trump and his wife to watch the celebrations/parades in Paris. A lot of people protested/demonstrated in the streets because they think Trump is racist and sexist and he refused to sign the Paris Climate Agreement (about protecting the environment).
