Today, we continued talking about what the lives of minorities in the USA.

Here is what you said:

• Black people had to go to different hotels.

• They couldn't sleep in the same hotels.

• Black people had to go to separate schools. In University, they had to sit at different sides of the room.

• They couldn't sit together for graduation day because they couldn't mix in official meetings.

• Black people and white people couldn't eat in the same restaurants.

• They had to go to different restaurants.

• Black people and white people couldn't wait in the same waiting rooms. They had to wait in separate rooms.

REMEMBER! Segregation was for «coloured» people (ce terme n'est plus utilisé car péjoratif): Black people but also Asian people, Latinos, Arabs, Jews or Native Americans…. All the minorities !
