• Hi guys,

today we worked on the poem from the Lorax and we commented upon the 1st pages. Here is what we said:

    Part 1: The Perfect World

There was joy in this place. The fantasy world was perfect. The bears played in the shade and they frisked about. The fish sang in the pond.

Part 2: The Once-Ler destroyed this world

He unloaded his cart. He cut and he created his amazing invention.

    Part 3: The Lorax arrived

He talked to the Once-Ler and he was furious.

  • Hi guys,

today we wrote a small paragraph about the many things that are the same in the book and in the movie to conclude that the movie is quite good an adaptation.

We saw how to use the preterite in English (how to conjugate and pronounce it).

Then we started a reading activity. You had to read a text and write the corresponding number from a picture along the correct lines from the Lorax poem.

Here is the picture you had to analyse with the text:

  • Hi guys,

today we first corrected the exercise about "contrast" that you had to complete; then we compared the book by Dr Seuss and the movie that we watched last time to see if the movie was a good adaptation or not.

You decided that it was a rather good adaptation since there are many similarities and only few differences.

Here is the text we began to study:

  • Hi guys,

yesterday we talked about the Once-Ler again and here is what we said:

The grand-mother believes in the story of the Once-Ler whereas the grandmother doesn't want to speak about this magical fable.

To speak to the Once-Ler, Ted needs to...:

    * go outstide of town.
    * bring him something -> He needs 15 cents, the shell of a great great great grand father snail, and a nail.

The Once-Ler will tell Ted everything about the real trees.

    The "poem" by Dr Seuss:

The grass never grows. The wind blows and no birds sing excepting the crows.

    Rhymes or repetitions

Today we did a recap and we worked on this document:

  • Hi guys,

today we watched the end of the extract from the Lorax. Here is what we said about it:

The opinions of the 3 characters about the magical world:

Ted: He wants a real tree. He needs to find the Once-Ler.

Grand-mother: She is old. She believes there is a magical world where there are real trees. She remembers the story of real trees. She is crazy but she is not senile.

Mother: The mother believes it's not the good time to speak about magical fairy tales. She doesn't believe in the fable.

-> The Once-Ler is a man who lives outside of town / the city where there are no birds and it's cold.
